WORKSHOP & SOUND PIECE: Young Lungs [2019]
A collaborative sound workshop and multi-channel sound composition exploring issues concerning traffic pollution and the impact this has on the lives of local school children. Led by artist Jan Cullen and in co-operation with the students and staff of William Patten Primary School in Shoreditch, London, the project culminated in the creation of a 13-minute sound piece that combines interviews, field recordings, voice performance and sound processing.
Jan Cullen writing about the project:
As we learn more about the shocking facts of the effects of pollution on our health it is important that we listen to the young people. Earlier this year I devised a project called Young Lungs that gave voice to the thoughts, anxieties, hopes and solutions to children who attend William Pattern a primary school in North London.
